Our Mission
Rhythm Ambassadors was officially founded in 2006 by Arturo Rodriguez, percussionist, author, performer, and educator. For over 20 years, Rodriguez has been providing both public and private instruction on various traditional and contemporary percussion forms through his company, Interact and Learn.
Now Rodriguez brings his expertise, and the artistic talents of many others that he has worked with over the years, directly into the school environment in support and promotion of culturally responsive education systems.
Rhythm Ambassadors provides a single, centralized source for Pacific Northwest schools and universities to turn to when they wish to deepen their historical and cultural awareness of Afro-Latin and West African music and dance.
Rhythm Ambassadors' performance, mentoring, and residency programs strive to: - Break down cultural barriers - Create harmony, unity and cooperation through team building - Build confidence through improved spontaneity and innovation - Open the musical ear - Convey historical and cultural awareness in a manner that is entertaining and engaging for participants and audience members
Rhythm Ambassadors' artistic resources include but are not limited to: - Traditional Afro-Cuban drummers and dancers (bembe, bata, rumba, etc.) - Brazilian drummers and dancers (samba, capoeira, etc.) - Caribbean steel pan ensemble - West African drummers and dancers (sabar, djembe, etc.)
